MATERIAL OBJECTS

through my early stages of material explorations, i noticed a challenge with our ability to define the boundaries between material and object. throughout this push and pull process, came the celebration of materials that are also objects and objects that are also materials.  this collection lies at the intersection which allows them to be both.  materials objects support and build our everyday spaces yet seldom get airtime. this collection switches the spotlight to reveal and appreciate their importance through new function and desire. ​material objects are often casted as cold, hard, unapproachable, closed with set function + means of use. these were the attributes i looked for in my material exploration. for instead of down casting such attributes, i wanted to recontextualize and celebrate them through design.
